But captain Graham Manou says his men have learned to stick up for themselves across a minor round campaign that ended with the Redbacks on top of the T20 ladder.

"We've been bullied in the past and we've allowed situations to get on top of us at certain times in certain games," Manou said.

"Now all we can do is try to enjoy the moment and believe in what we've done to get us there."

That, and stay as calm as possible, which has been the team's oft-repeated "mantra" throughout the tournament.

"If we're in a really stable state of mind, it gives us the best chance of playing good cricket," Manou said.

An on-field confrontation between Manou and Victoria's David Hussey during a minor round clash has, whether intentionally or not, illustrated SA's resolve to no longer be pushed around by the big boys.

After exchanging words on the field, Hussey appeared to push Manou when the SA captain offered his hand after the game.

Manou said he was sure Hussey regretted the incident which he said should have "stayed on the field".

"In the heat of battle you sometimes make decisions that you might regret later."

Manou concedes the pressure of playing in a rare final and in front of an expectant Adelaide Oval crowd - is as big a challenge as blunting T20 specialist Dirk Nannes's express bowling.

"I think it will be highly intense purely because both teams are such competitive beasts," Manou said.

"We're desperate to get some sort of silverware in our cupboard.

"You hate losing. Especially in a final and especially to Victoria."

Widely regarded as one of the best leaders in the country, Manou has eased his heavy match-day workload - he also opens the batting and keeps wickets - by delegating.

"At times it can be quite difficult, but I think our bowling group have taken on a lot of responsibility out on the field," Manou said.

" I think that's an important part of being a leader. You trust your teammates every step of the way. I've got the utmost faith in them.
