One Day International Series
First One Day International
New Zealand v West Indies, Queenstown, 23:00

A wonderful opening partnership of 130 from Jesse Ryder (62) and Brendon McCullum (59) proved the difference for New Zealand as they won the second Twenty20 international against West Indies in Hamilton by 36 runs, thus levelling the series 1-1.

After beginning the tour with a string of low scores, Ramnaresh Sarwan (53) played brilliantly, bringing up his half-century off just 30 balls and looked more like the player that once averaged comfortably over 50.00 in ODIs. However, it proved in vain as West Indies finished short of their target of 192.

Earlier in the day, Ryder and McCullum gave New Zealand the perfect start before the visitors fought back gallantly to restrict the home side to 191 for 9. The two added a whirlwind 130 from just 70 balls, but McCullum's departure signalled the collapse of nine wickets for just 61 runs as West Indies surged back into the match.

McCullum faced 34 balls and hit six fours and four sixes, while Ryder used 41 balls to hit seven fours and three sixes. Both were brutal on anything too full or too short and, ultimately, it was their fireworks that gave the hosts the edge.

South Africa need another 153 runs to overturn two decades of Australian dominance at home after Dale Steyn continued his heroics by earning 10 wickets for the game. Steyn, who took 5 for 87 and then scored 76 in the first innings, backed up with 5 for 67 and was responsible for ending Australia's tiny chance for a series-levelling victory.
Ricky Ponting's almost lone hand of 99 extended the small advantage to 182 and was the only bright spot, apart from Mitchell Johnson's unbeaten 43, on another horrible day for the home side. Australia have not lost a series in their backyard since West Indies toppled them in 1992-93, but if the predicted rain stays away on Tuesday South Africa can dethrone the world champions

Interesting how we keep coming back to 1995. That was when the unprecedented - and still unmatched by some distance - 15-year unbeaten run in Test series came to an end at the hands of Mark Taylor's Australians with a humiliating innings defeat in Jamaica. And now, with West Indies withstanding a late scare from New Zealand in pursuit of 312 off 60 overs on the last day in Napier yesterday, this is the first time that the Caribbean side have not lost a Test series away from home against nations other than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh since, yep, 1995.

It will be almost impossible for the Boxing Day Test to live up to the drama of South Africa's win in Perth. So unexpected was their brilliant chase of 414 that it left both teams in a state of shock. The squads have had a few days to digest the outcome and for Australia the distaste of losing forced at least one player to be spat out. But it will take more than just personnel alterations for Ricky Ponting's men to fight back in Melbourne. They face the challenge of turning a moderate attack into one capable of curbing South Africa's powerful batting line-up, while their own batsmen try to click back into gear.

Australia 1 Matthew Hayden, 2 Simon Katich, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Hussey, 5 Michael Clarke, 6 Andrew Symonds, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Brett Lee, 9 Mitchell Johnson, 10 Nathan Hauritz, 11 Peter Siddle.
South Africa have named the same side that earned the remarkable win at the WACA. The only question-mark was over the fitness of Ashwell Prince, whose cracked thumb kept him out of the Perth line-up. Prince was making good progress but was not considered quite ready for a return at the MCG and his replacement JP Duminy, who struck the winning runs on his Test debut, has proven a more than capable Test No. 6.

MOHALI: India lost a few quick wickets but recovered sufficiently to put themselves in a position to push for an improbable victory on the fifth day though a draw appears to be the likely result in the second and final Test against England on Monday. After bundling out England for 302 in the first innings, the hosts were 44 for three at one stage but accelerated the pace of scoring late in the day to reach 134 for four at close on the penultimate day, taking an overall lead of 285 runs.Opener Gautam Gambhir (44) and Yuvraj Singh (39) were at the crease at stumps on a day which saw England's victory hopes being completely shattered. With just one day left in the match, a draw or an Indian victory appear to be the only two results possible but the hosts have to show more urgency to force a result.

England fought back spiritedly after breaking that partnership, but they should also be worried at how subsequent batsmen failed to make much headway on a pitch that's sure to play a few tricks over the next three days. "At 300 for 1, we were looking around, wondering where we were going to get a wicket from," said Graeme Swann, who along with the indefatigable Andrew Flintoff was the pick of the bowlers. "The way Dravid played, he hardly gave us any chance. He was exceptional."

England
Venue: Mohali

Match Preview:
Chennai may well be remembered as the Test match in which there were no losers, but try convincing England's cricketers of that fact as they traipse northwards to Mohali to start their campaign from scratch. For three days and two sessions, they held the upper hand over India, only for that ascendancy to be ripped from their grasp on a manic fourth evening. Virender Sehwag's irresistible volley of boundaries paved the way for Sachin Tendulkar's inexorable march to victory, as he and Yuvraj Singh added 165 unbeaten runs for the fifth wicket to coast home in front of an adulatory crowd.
What now, then, for England? Chennai was the scene of some extravagant personal performances from their cricketers - most notably the twin-centurion, Andrew Strauss - but they have emerged with nothing to show for their efforts save a significant amount of mental bruising. The scars in some cases are physical as well - the captain, Kevin Pietersen, played the first Test with a cracked rib, while Steve Harmison was receiving ongoing treatment for a knee niggle. It took an awful lot of soul-searching for England to make the return trip to India, to pick themselves up twice in a fortnight would be remarkable.
India, on the other hand, will saunter into Mohali with the confidence of a team that now believes that anything is possible. Tendulkar's 41st century is already being regarded as the crowning glory of his matchless career, while Yuvraj's unbeaten 85 could yet prove to be a watershed innings. Zaheer Khan once again demonstrated that he is the world's pre-eminent exponent of reverse swing, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's cool marshalling of his players in a tensely-fought contest was another feather in his cap. Down in Perth, Australia and South Africa are supposedly competing for the right to be regarded as the world's best Test team, but many would argue that accolade has already been claimed elsewhere

India 155 for 6 (Tendulkar 37, Swann 2-35) trail England 316 (Strauss, Prior 53*, Cook 52) by 161 runs

England's bowlers proved that it doesn't matter how many thousands of runs a top order has, each innings is a new one and all batsmen are human. A fine combined effort from the five-man attack reduced India to 155 for 6 in reply to their 316 on the second day in Chennai. Graeme Swann grabbed the spotlight with two wickets in his first over in Test cricket and three strikes in the final hour - one apiece for Monty Panesar, Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison - allowed England to cement unexpected control.

The pitch has already played a part in this fascinating contest and chasing in the fourth innings isn't going to be easy. There was help for Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra, but also for England's spin pair as Swann and Panesar matched them. After stumbling to 37 for 3, courtesy Swann's two in four balls before tea, India partially recovered through Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. But their dismissals in consecutive overs after the break stunned the crowd into silence.

England 229 for 5 (Flintoff 18*, Anderson 2*) ( India vs ENgland)

This Test looked like it might never go ahead, and some still argue it's too soon to be playing cricket, but in the end the opening day produced a fascinating start to the short series. Despite a fine century from Andrew Strauss, a brace of wickets apiece for Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan reduced England to 229 for 5 at the close although the surface is threatening to break up later in the game.

Against the odds England controlled the first two sessions and were 164 for 1 at tea after an opening stand of 118. However, India hit back strongly, led by another outstanding display of reverse swing from Zaheer. He removed Ian Bell with the second ball after tea and bounced-out a scratchy and skittish Kevin Pietersen. Andrew Flintoff did well to survive his early trial by spin and swing, and faces a huge role on the second day with nightwatchman James Anderson for company.

Strauss's effort was a remarkable show of concentration. Barring three short innings during the Stanford week, this was his first knock since the end of the English season. He brought up his 13th Test century off 191 balls, but his dismissal late in the day, offering a low return catch to Amit Mishra, put India firmly ahead on points. The four sessions splits confirm how India fought back: 63 without loss, 101 for 1 and 65 for 4.

Zaheer's first ball after tea slanted across Bell, then the second arched back in and was heading for middle when he was trapped in front. Dhoni hadn't used Zaheer between lunch and tea, but when called upon played a vital part. Pietersen has had more to deal with in recent days than most, so it was unsurprising that he struggled at the crease. He was tested by Zaheer's swing but also Yuvraj Singh's left-arm sliders. Yuvraj caused as many moments of discomfort as Harbhajan, who was introduced in the ninth over, or Mishra and had a very close lbw shout turned down against Pietersen. Zaheer, though, claimed a deserved second wicket as Pietersen top-edged a pull which the bowler claimed in his follow-through.

Paul Collingwood retained his place in the side ahead of the in-form Owais Shah, and when your spot is being debated it doesn't help to get a rough decision. Billy Bowden thought he'd got a glove to short-leg off Harbhajan, but he missed it by at least six inches. A lot of the players have spoken about how events in Mumbai have given them a greater perspective, but once the contest is resumed in the middle, instincts take over and the disappointment was easy to detect.

Strauss feasts on spin

Andrew Strauss' 123 was his second century in consecutive Tests in India, where he averages 51.42.
The 118-run opening partnership between Strauss and Alastair Cook was their sixth century-partnership - the pair now average 40.39 in 53 innings - and their fifth in 2008. They've added 883 runs together this year at an average of 55.18 - among opening pairs in 2008 they're second only to Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith who've added 1395 in 19 innings at 77.50.
Strauss scored 79 of his 123 runs on the leg side. The sweep shot, which he used on 26 occasions, and the flick, each yielded 34 runs.
95 of his runs were scored off spinners - a pretty high percentage of 77.23 - at a run-rate of 3.75. It's the most he's scored against spinners in a single innings, the previous highest being 94 against New Zealand in Napier earlier this year. He was far more restrained against Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, scoring 28 off 81 balls at a rate of 2.07.
England have never lost a Test in which Strauss has scored a century. They've won eight and drawn four.

To put England's position in further context, the last Test on this ground, when South Africa played India, produced first-innings totals of 540 and 627, plus an individual contribution of 319 by Virender Sehwag. The visitors, though, have the advantage of bowling last on a surface that is likely to break up after hurried preparation.

Despite being up against India's formidable batting line-up, England captain Kevin Pietersen expects Graeme Swann to put up a good performance in the first Test which starts on Thursday in Chennai. "It's a decision we've come to because we think it will spin," he said. "We think he's the best and most attacking option.

"We know the Indians are not bad players of spin. But no matter how good you are, you still have to play well on the day. He'll be right at the Indian batsmen. Krejza did well here, and I think Swann's better."

He was confident of the spinner performing well and said he deserved his debut. "He's ecstatic. It's a huge moment for anybody, to win that first Test cap. As a spinner, bowling in India is a huge challenge. But we've seen how Shaggy [Shaun] Udal bowled here on the last tour. When it's your debut game, you'll be buzzing for four or five days."

Pietersen believed England had picked their best XI, though Matt Prior's inlcusion may have raised a few eyebrows. "I told the boys it was one of the most difficults decisions to make. It's a healthy situation when you have the likes of Shah, Amjad and Adil Rashid to put pressure on the places.

"We've also changed the keeper because we feel Matty Prior's a better option with the bat. He's also improved his keeping. I don't think he lost confidence during the one-day series. It was pretty tough for everyone. He wasn't the only one."

Pietersen said the mood within the team was quite upbeat and they were looking to make amends after the 5-0 thrashing in the one-day series. "We're the underdogs, but it's been a distracting time for both teams. The boys are so excited now about playing. We hopped on a plane in Abu Dhabi and came here because the boys love playing cricket in India. At the end of the day, we're professional sportsmen, and when you step on the field, you turn on a little switch and play to your best."

He said while Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were the players to watch out for, though he suggested England might have a plan for Yuvraj. "There's lots of pressure on Yuvraj as well. It'll be interesting to see how he plays the short ball."

With less than 24 hours before the fate of England's tour of India is decided, Peter Moores has admitted that both Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison remain concerned about returning to the subcontinent for the two-Test series which begins on Thursday.

England flew back from India after the Mumbai terrorists struck several high-profile establishments. Ever since, the tour's future has been in doubt. But in flying to the halfway-house of Abu Dhabi on Friday, and with their security consultant Reg Dickason assessing the venues in Chennai and Mohali, it is still hoped that the series will go ahead. A final decision will be made once Hugh Morris, managing director of England Cricket, and Sean Morris, chief executive of the Professional Cricketers' Association, return to the players' camp in Abu Dhabi on Sunday

5th ODI - India v England
Date: Wednesday 26 th November, 2008
Time : 14:00 local, 08:30 GMT
Venue: Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

Pitch and conditions

The Barabati Stadium hosted day-night games during last month's Challenger Trophy. With the pitches on the slower side there were not many big scores, and teams were dismissed four times in eight innings. No rain is expected on Wednesday, but dew could play a factor during the chase. The curator, Pankaj Patnaik, felt the team winning the toss would bat. "The pitch is looking good, it's compact," he told the Indian Express. "It's a sporting wicket, and the bowlers will get good bounce here. But at the end of the day, it's a one-day match and the pitch will be batsman-friendly."

Wednesday 26 November, 2008

Time: 14:30 local, 09:00 GMT

Venue: Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

Ground Profile:

The Barabati Stadium in Cuttack hosted only the third one-day international in this country, in January 1982, when India put it across England by five wickets to lift the series 2-1. In the first Test match here five seasons later, the Sri Lankans were greeted with an underprepared wicket affording vastly unpredictable bounce. Dilip Vengsarkar, then at the most dizzying heights of his career, made his highest Test score of 166, his fourth century in eight Tests, when no other batsman on either side crossed 60. The Lankans were rolled over twice as India seized an innings and 67-run victory. Kapil Dev bagged his 300th Test victim, bowling Rumesh Ratnayake with a ball that failed to sit up.

The only other Test match here, against New Zealand in 1995-96, was badly affected by rain, affording less than 180 overs of playing time. Narendra Hirwani, on a comeback trail, took 6 for 59 in New Zealand's only innings, the best bowling figures here. India have won five out of seven ODI's at this venue which has also witnessed two games not involving them. Visiting sides have in the past sometimes expressed their qualms about having to travel from Bhubaneshwar, an hour's drive away, because of the lack of an airport and of quality accomodation in Cuttack.

4th ODI - India v England

Sunday 23rd November, 2008

Time: 14:00 local, 08:30 GMT

Venue: M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

England were thrashed in Rajkot and comprehensively beaten in Indore but improved their performance in Kanpur. The gap between the teams has narrowed with every game but, at 3-0 to India, the series has reached a stage where England have to win in Bangalore to keep it alive.

Team news

Tendulkar's return is a certainty but what is less clear is whom he is going to replace. Rohit Sharma's scores in this series are 11 not out, 3 and 28 and it's likely that he will make way for Tendulkar. Gambhir will drop down to No. 3, giving India's top order the look it had when winning the tri-series in Australia earlier this year. Ishant had a poor game in Kanpur, conceding 12 of India's 17 extras, but India are unlikely to change their bowling attack.

India (probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Yusuf Pathan, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Munaf Patel.

England made several changes to their batting order in the last game in Kanpur, promoting Ravi Bopara to open, Pietersen to No. 3, and dropping Owais Shah and Matt Prior to Nos 6 and 8. They are likely to persist with that plan after the Bopara-Ian Bell combination produced 79 runs in quick time. They could make a change to the bowling attack, however, replacing the out-of-form James Anderson with Steve Harmison.

England (probable): 1 Ravi Bopara, 2 Ian Bell, 3 Kevin Pietersen (capt), 4 Paul Collingwood, 5 Andrew Flintoff, 6 Owais Shah, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Matt Prior (wk), 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 Steve Harmison.

Pitch and conditions

Bangalore has had daily showers in the run-up to the match and the meteorological department has predicted moderate to heavy rain over the weekend. The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, however, is expected to be full of runs. "It's a sporting wicket, and should assist the batsmen more than the bowlers," the curator Narayan Raju said. "The ball will come on to the bat nicely." In the last ODI at this venue, in September 2007, Australia scored 307 for 7 before rain interrupted play shortly into the Indian innings and forced the match to be abandoned.

Kanpur - Nov 20, 2008
Match scheduled to begin at 09:00 local time (03:30 GMT)
Ishant Sharma, who missed the first two ODIs against England due to an ankle injury, has been declared match-fit but the team management is yet to take a call on whether he will play the third game on Thursday in Kanpur.
If Ishant returns, either Munaf Patel or RP Singh will have to sit out in Kanpur. RP looked scratchy in the two games played with just one wicket. The team is looking to rotate the fast bowlers during the seven-match ODI series as a precautionary measure keeping in mind the subsequent two-Test series. "We would like to play both of them [Zaheer and Ishant] till we are in complete control of the series," sources said.

India 613 for 7 dec and 43 for 2 (Gambhir 21*, Dravid 5*) lead Australia 577 (Clarke 112, Sehwag 5-104) by 79 runs

A fighting century from Michael Clarke gave Australia a strong chance of heading into the final Test with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy still theirs to defend as a draw appeared likely in Delhi. Clarke's 112, his eighth Test hundred, guided Australia to within 36 runs of India's enormous 613 and completed a valiant group response from a side that had been all but batted out of the game within two days.

Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden led a solid collective effort from Australia on the third day in Delhi, although by the close there was no guarantee they would avoid the follow-on. Virender Sehwag went from fifth bowling option to major striker with three wickets, including two key breakthroughs in the final session that left Australia needing 76 more runs to ensure India would bat again

Australia 50 for 0 (Katich 29*, Hayden 16*) trail India 613 for 7 dec (Gambhir 206, Laxman 200*, Johnson 3-142) by 563 runs
VVS Laxman tormented Australia with his second Test double-century and Gautam Gambhir registered his first as India batted themselves into an almost unconquerable position in the third Test. On the second successive day of complete Indian domination, Australia's greatest achievement was simply getting to stumps without losing a wicket.

Idea cup 1st odi live streaming

“Sri Lanka is one of the toughest places to play cricket as you don’t get a lot of runs on slow, low wickets. You have to always stay positive,” he said.

The Indian ODI side would also be infused with the freshness of Yuvraj Singh, who hit an explosive 172 against the Lankan XI in a practice match and gave indication that he was in the best of his forms.

The Punjab-batsman, however, said Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan, who made India bite dust in the Tests, would make a deadly combo.

“Obviously, I have to face a better attack when I play the ODI. But my innings was against an international side. With Mendis and Muralitharan, Sri lanka will have a potent attack,” said Yuvraj.

After a dismal showing by the batsmen in the Test series, the visitors will also have to pay special attention to building up partnerships during the ODIs as it would be the key in posting big scores.

However, the victory in the practice match against a moderate Lankan XI bowling attack, after scoring heavily in a slow and low wicket, would have done a world of good to the demoralised visitors.

For Sri Lanka, it is not so much the batting line up that the home team needs to worry about, but the combination of bowlers as captain Mahela Jayawardene has no bowling all-rounder in the squad to choose from in the first two ODIs.

Sri Lanka 14 for 1 trail India 249 (Gambhir 72, Mendis 5-56, Prasad 3-82) by 235 runs
Dammika Prasad's raw pace pulled India back after an explosive start, whereupon the spinners took charge of the game, as has been their wont over the course of the series. India's middle order failed again, as they fell from 51 for 0 in seven overs to 198 for 9, after which Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma frustrated Sri Lanka for one ball less than 20 overs - the longest partnership of the innings, and at 51 runs also the joint highest. Ishant followed up the good work with the bat to get Malinda Warnapura's wicket two overs before stumps.
Mahela Jayawardene made exceptional use of the review system, getting the wickets of Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid after challenging decisions. Gambhir had got off to his fifth start in five innings, and his third half-century in three, in characteristically aggressive fashion, but could only watch from the other end as his partners came and went, before he himself failed to convert his fifty into a big one.
Ajantha Mendis ended the frustrating last-wicket stand to finish with his second five-for, the fifth time he has taken at least four in five innings, but the real impact was caused by the debutant, Prasad.
Ever since Prasad was called up into the Sri Lanka squad after the first Test, his pace had been a talking point. And when he finally got the cap, that speed made the difference. He didn't bowl at 150kph, but he was quick enough to thwart any thoughts the batsmen might have had of dominating the bowlers. The difference he made was clear from Gambhir's contrasting approaches against Chaminda Vaas and Prasad. To Vaas he walked down the pitch, as he does in domestic cricket when facing lesser bowlers, nullifying any swing. When Vaas managed to beat him, he opened the face to run it towards third man. Vaas tried bouncing him out, but he managed to rock back and pull him for fours. But no such tactics were trotted out against Prasad, who took all three of his wickets - as opposed to buying them, which was what the Sri Lankan medium-pacers had done in the series till then.
After India chose to bat, both Gambhir and Sehwag outdid each other, hitting boundaries at will in the first half-hour. Prasad, fast and erratic to begin with, was handed a cruel baptism: Gambhir took a boundary off his first ball, Sehwag one off the first ball of his second over. After he managed to start his third over with a dot-ball, Prasad bowled a no-ball immediately after, which beat the keeper and went for four. The first ball of his fourth over was pummelled back to him and hit his left wrist viciously. After three minutes of treatment, he stunned Sehwag with one that held its line and took a faint edge through. The celebration - Prasad's eyes almost popping out of their sockets, Murali-like - spoke of how important the wicket was.
India had done enough damage by then, it seemed: they had reached 51 in 7.2 overs. In came Dravid, struggling to find form, struggling to keep the strike rotating. The scoring-rate came down, and even though Dravid looked comfortable defending, it allowed the bowlers to settle into a rhythm.
Prasad, in his second spell, came up with another special effort. He got one to swing in late, and beat Dravid's defence. Jayawardene challenged the not-out call that ensued, and replays showed that about 40% of the ball was inside the mat at the point of impact. As it would definitely have hit off and middle, and there was no inside edge, the point of impact was the only matter of contention, and the umpire was convinced enough to overturn his decision.
To make a good first session better, Prasad got Sachin Tendulkar, playing in his 150th Test, beating him with inward movement. Tendulkar, given out by Mark Benson, asked for a review, but the replay didn't show any conclusive evidence of an inside edge, which would have been the only reason to reverse the decision.
With two of the Fab Four gone, the spinners - especially Mendis - reinforced the vice grip they have had over the Indian middle order. Despite a quick start from Sourav Ganguly, who began with a boundary off Prasad and then lofted Muttiah Muralitharan over long-off, the middle order never really took charge of the game. Murali came back with a fastish offbreak that took Ganguly's edge even as he tried to hide bat behind pad.
Gambhir, meanwhile, seemed to be picking Mendis early, and looked to use his feet to him. He stepped out to hit a full toss from Mendis wide of mid-on to get to his sixth half-century. He then slowed down, which suggested he realised the need to get to at least a hundred, which he had last managed in 2004-05 against Bangladesh. But Mendis and Jayawardene teamed up again: Mendis beat Gambhir with an offbreak and Jayawardene opted for another challenge, after the proximity of the bat to the front pad and the ball had created enough doubt for the on-field umpire to rule in favour of the batsman. Replays suggested otherwise, and Sri Lanka had reduced India from 51 for 0 to 155 for 5 even before Murali and Mendis had really got going.
In the last over before tea, Mendis made sure India had squandered the advantage of winning the toss, by getting the last recognised batsman, VVS Laxman, with a legbreak. The rest, bar Zaheer and Ishant, were a mere formality. And the ease with which the last-wicket pair batted only made things look more threatening for India as they went out to field.

INDIA VS SRILANKA 3RD TEST DAY 1

Dinesh Karthik had done little behind the stumps in the first two Tests to inspire confidence in the bowlers and, with his captain among the bowlers to suffer, he may be axed in favour of Parthiv Patel, who last played a Test in October 2004. The rest of the line-up remains the same.
India (probable) 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Sourav Ganguly, 6 VVS Laxman, 7 Parthiv Patel (wk), 8 Anil Kumble (capt), 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Ishant Sharma. Sri Lanka decided to stick on with Michael Vandort - 17 runs in three innings so far - but were not as kind to Nuwan Kulasekara, who has taken one wicket in the two Tests. They are yet to decide whether they to pick Thilan Thushara, the left-arm medium-pacer, or hand out a debut to Dammika Prasad, whose pace has been a talking point ever since he was added to the squad after the first Test.
Sri Lanka (probable) 1 Michael Vandort, 2 Malinda Warnapura, 3 Kumar Sangakkara, 4 Mahela Jayawardene (capt), 5 Thilan Samaraweera, 6 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 7 Prasanna Jayawardene (wk), 8 Chaminda Vaas, 9 Muttiah Muralitharan, 10 Ajantha Mendis, 11 Thilan Thushara/Dammika Prasad.
Umpires: Mark Benson and Rudi Koertzen. Third umpire: Billy Doctrove
